Windows explorer will only run when 2 windows are opened.

This is a quirky problem, with it's own workaround, but i'd rather see it solved: When you try to open any folder or window in Windows Explorer (not IE) the window freezes, with a seemingly interminable loading cycle. as soon as you open another explorer window, they both, by virtue of the heavens operate just fine. I have left the original window open for upwards of 10 minutes with no response, until a second window is opened. Any suggestions?

No problem, we will try something else.
When the problem occurs go to search by the start button. Type event viewer. In the left panel go to administrative. Look for applicable errors that happened at the time of the freeze.
