My computer freezes when I attempt to access the problem folder (in my pictures folder). I am a new photographer & was in the process of using lightroom & photoshop with this folder when my computer slowed WAY down. After rebooting, the system froze after opening the folder up in explore. I have rebooted in Safe mode and have a similar freeze situation that happens.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear your having problems. The first thing I would suggest is..

1. Run a full up-dated scan using your computer Anti-Virus.

2. Download and run a full scan using malwarebytes, here is the link and chose the free version. Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download

If those come back clean then we can work on your system to get things back like they should be...

Did both of those things last night. Was previously using AVG - clean scan.
Downloaded Malwarebytes per this forum and it removed the following:
malware.trace
trojan.fakevlc

Hello Jttimmer, Welcome to the forum.

May be your thumbs.db (which caches thumbnail images for that folder) is corrupt.

Open command prompt and try these command:

cd My Doc* then press ENTER
del thumbs.db /s then press ENTER

If asked to confirm, confirm it.

Once you do this, close the command prompt and open your pictures folder.

Hopefully this may resolve your problem.

Thanks.
Arvin
