specs:

Toshiba disk drive hdd2d94 B URO1 T MK2046GSX
DC+5 1.OA 200 GB?
serial number: Z7RJT18BT C72 EC.A
I tried the complete factory recovery, the error code that comes up is
10-FA11-045D It shows on a google search that it may be a faulty hard drive. How can I check if that is the case. The chkdsk I tried before hangs after a while.
Every check stalls at \windows\system\32\drivers\crcdisk.sys or hangs after what seems like a half installation.

Thanks richc46, Unfortunately I can't get the windows to start up. After the attempt to do a factory restore, windows open as far as the desk top with the original icons, but none of them respond to a mouse click. I did attempt to check the hard drive with the fujitsu HDD diagnostic tool, but it would not initiate because the windows did not open up. Before I did the factory recovery, I did all the possible checks in safe mode (that was the only thing that came up).

It sounds very much like a hard drive problem. If that is the case not much can be done.

Thanks again for all the replies guys, I guess she will have to resign to the fact that it would be better to invest in a new unit rather than spending money on repairs since she does not have the back-up OS cd's

A little late follow-up: I had the hard drive replaced and the OS re installed. $190.00 CD, but still cheaper than buying a new unit. Everything works fine now. Thanks again.
