Random Shutdowns

I know it has been discussed before, but I need to know for sure so here is what has I have been having trouble with.

Month and a half now I have had at least a total of 5 random shutdowns. The first 2 shutdowns were unexpected but different, the monitor faded to black and then the tower had shut down, that was for the first two. Although, I was able to turn them back on the instant it shut down.

The following 3 are becoming troublesome, where it completely kills the monitor, and the top light that glows blue on the tower however you can still hear *Some* of the components still running in the tower, yet the computer isn't really running at all. Instant start-up is not possible after this, since the tower won't turn on afterwards. A coldboot completely shuts it off although when I plug the power back in, it runs the same way again, unable to turn it on. Eventually it turned on, and that was the 3rd time.

The 4th, did the same as the third, except this time it never turned on until it was taken apart and all the dust was blown from the fans, then rolled it back 4 days and it was running.

Additional - But now a popular messenging program (with a standing of 13,838,638 people online at the moment) I currently use is being blindly blamed, by the owner for the recent shutdowns, without any "Standing (Hard) Facts" that it is the issue. Even "IF" so this is the cause for the computer to shut down, then "Why" have I not had similar issues with the other machines that I have the same software downloaded to? And "If" it is the cause, then "Why" are not all "Registered Users" using the software, (which would be in the millions), not experiencing the same problem?

The 5th time, I loaded my messenger back on there and I was told today that the computer had shut off, (again). I believe it has absolutely nothing to do with each other. I've been doing the research and have come up with nothing, so I believe it to be a hardware issue although I may be wrong.

I would like to have my programs back without them being falsely accused for the computer, "Shutting Down" mysteriously. If anybody can help me, thanks. I will give the specs below.

OS Name: Microsoft windows vista home premium
version: 6.0.6002 service pack 2 build 6002
Processor: AMD Phenom x4 9750 quad-core processor
mem: 8 gb ddr2
harddrive: 1 tb hdd.

help would be appreciated.

Just to clarify the situation, each time the computer has shut down, there were no errors, no BSOD, nothing. Just shut down except you can still hear something faintly running inside the tower now.

Does anybody know what this might be?

Hi,

Well all that sounds good but unfortunately is pretty meaningless from an investigation/ recommendation point of view.

So, questions first: -

Is this your PC? Who is accusing you falsely!
What make & model are we dealing with here? Please confirm which version of Windows Vista & the status of the updates installed etc.. you have!

Is the PC set to hibernate?
What software are you describing?
