BSOD Error 0x00000050

Hi,

Last night my computer was working fine and suddenly froze when my husband's screen saver popped up. My lappy was running windows update at the time, so i just assumed it froze because the screen saver interrupted it. So I turned it off and tried to turn it back on (which of course means the updates didn't finish) and got the BSOD (with the error Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area 0x00000050) I've tried to fix it multiple times, and cannot access safe mode nor any other sort of repair screen before it goes to the evil blue screen >.>;;. It worked once and let me log in, but then the screen was just black with a cursor. The screen didn't respond to any keys, nor any commands, no matter how much i clicked and poked around.. @.@ as you can see it's very confusing.

We also don't have any windows disks (nor any others) to perform a complete wipe of the hard-drive, because when my husband got the laptop, it didn't come with any... and the computer i'm currently typing this on doesn't have a cd/dvd drive, so i can't download anything onto a disk at the moment.

Can someone please help me fix this problem? Or do i need to just buy a new interior hard-drive?

Oh, and also, I have no idea how to get the dump files without the ability to log into the laptop (i didn't know how to get them even if i could've logged in), so I'm afraid we'll have to work without them..

First, one dump (with the files) is just guesswork.
This is the best that we can do and answer questions

Usual causes: Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS

It may be hardware and you cant even test memory or hard drive.

Thank you for replying so promptly. I've tested the memory, but nothing shows up on the scans. :( I've tried taking the hard drive out and re-inserting it, but to no avail. I've tried everything I can think of..

If you create a recovery DVD, you may be able to boot to recovery options
Create Recovery DVD

The Vista recovery disk is used to boot Vista when it won't boot - to run Startup Repair, System Restore, access a Command Line, Recover using a Vista Backup Image, etc.
System Recovery Options. Choose an option tht will not cause you to lose your stuff.

If Vista will not start now, boot the Recovery CD to run Startup Repair which automates System Restore as well as numerous other tests including System File Checker which can repair system files which are not corrupted beyond repair.

If Vista still will not start, try booting into Safe Mode to run sfc /scannow to repair System files.

Below is a bulletin distributed by MS to explain the start up procedure when Windows will not boot.
  • Startup Repair. Startup Repair is a Windows recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as missing or damaged system files, that might prevent Windows from starting. Startup Repair is located on the System Recovery Options menu, which is on the Windows Vista installation disc. If your computer has preinstalled recovery options, it might also be stored on your computer's hard disk. For more information, see Startup Repair: frequently asked questions and What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista? If your computer does not include Startup Repair, your computer manufacturer might have customized or replaced the tool. Check the information that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.
  • Change restart settings in safe mode. If your computer is stuck in a loop where Windows fails, attempts to restart, and then fails again repeatedly, restart your computer in safe mode and select the Disable automatic restart on system failure checkbox. For more information, see Advanced startup options (including safe mode).
  • Reinstall. If no other options have solved the problem, and you are sure that your computer's hardware is functioning normally, you might need to reinstall Windows. A custom (clean) installation of Windows will permanently delete all of the files on your computer and reinstall Windows, so only use this option if all other recovery options have been unsuccessful. I can't even access the screen where the repair options are located. I've tried and every time I manage to get to the screen before that where it asks me to type in the pass for my administrative account, and then the BSOD happens. (it happens before that screen sometimes too) I also have no vista dvd's or cd's (as stated in my first post). I can also not access safe mode, it crashes every time I try, I don't even get to the log in page. I click safe mode, then right after the little loading bar - BSOD.

This is a different way to access, you create a DVD on another computer and boot from that. If nothing else all this will help up diagnose hardware or software problem.
You may have to wait until you have access to another computer with a DVD drive.

If this does not work, we will try to save your stuff.
If it works your stuff will be saved
If it does not work, at all, probably a hardware problem.

I don't care if all of the info gets deleted. :) I just need the laptop to run correctly, everything we have on it can be replaced. And unfortunately, i cannot make the recovery disk, as our writer doesn't work on the upstairs computer T.T

Ill be honest, dont know what else to do:
Cant analyze the mini dump reports, because you dont have any
Cant boot from DVDs - You cant burn any
Cant test hardware or software.

May I suggest, maybe tomorrow or the next day, borrow a small lappy and we can probably get you up and running.

Wait just had an idea. If you can put the HD in the other computer we can find out the cause of the problem. The other computer has to be compatible with the broken one.

The HD wouldn't be compatible with my lappy, mine has windows 7, and it's only a toshiba netbook. :( I'll just figure something out later, ^-^ since i've been working on this for the past two days, my brain is dying XD
