Hello. When i turn my pc on now, i keep getting the following message:

failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging onto the system. As an admin user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didnt respond.

I do not see any problems arising from this, but can someone tell me what this is all about and how to fix it.

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum.

First I take it you can still logon to your desktop...

The best and fastest way to correct the problem is by doing a system restore not a factory restore. You go back say 5 days before the problem started heres how.

You also might want to try a sfc sacn heres how...

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66978-system-files-sfc-command.html

1. Click start...
2. Type: cmd
3. Right click cmd.exe and run as administrator.
4. When the command box appears next to the flashing cursor then type: sfc /scannow, notice there is a space between the sfc and the forward slash. After you have run the sfc if there are any errors then run it 3 more times as it repairs more each time.

Please keep us informed as to the results...

Check its service status....

Start > in the search box, type ser > press Enter > scroll down to System Event Noti...
under Status heading, it should say ....... Started
under Startup type, it should say............ Automatic
If it does not show that way > right click at System Event Noti... > Properties > under Startup Type, click pointer and select Automatic
at Service Status, click Start
> click OK when done.

Good day. I performed a sfc scann and it did not find anything.

I then went into the services and the System Event Notifcation is started and set to automatic.

As for the system restore, i am not sure how far i will have to go back as this has been popping up for awhile.

As richc46 says, i am not experiencing any probloms so i guess i should not be concerned.

Thanks for the replies, i will leave it as it is and mark this thread solved.

Have a great day.
