Startup repair can't resolve the problem, now what?

Hi,
I've been having a few virus problems with my Acer laptop, so I installed Nortom Antivirus. However I bumped the power cord out while it was installing and now my laptop can't boot.
I tried startup repair but it failed, and I can only get as far as the screen listing the repair options (startup repair, system restore, windows complete PC restore, windows memory diagnostic tool, command prompt, Acer complete restore). The details are:

Problem Event Name: StartupRepairV2
Problem Signature 01: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 02: 6.0.6001.18000.6.0.6001.18000
Problem Signature 03: 6
Problem Signature 04: 262148
Problem Signature 05: CorruptVolume
Problem Signature 06: NoRootCause
Problem Signature 07: 0
Problem Signature 08: 2
Problem Signature 09: WrpRepair
Problem Signature 10: 1168
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Naturally I have no idea what any of this means...
I don't want to lose all my files, so I was wondering if there is a way to fix the corrupt file from the interrupted installation and get my computer running again. The OS is windows vista home premium 32bit (which came with the computer, I don't have a disk) and there doesn't appear to be a memory hardware problem.
Cheers,
Furell
