Hello to everyone, i am new here and am not a big computer expert so any advice needs to be in layman's terms, lol... Anyway, to the problem, about 3 days ago, whenever i insert a disc into the drive, photos or music, autoplay pops up but when i click on the "open all files using windows explorer", it just won't open then the "windows explorer has stopped working" box pops up, when i click on the problem i get "AppHangB1" and "explorer.exe", i have tried the "check for solution" but nothing happens. I have done a system restore, scanned with Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, Ccleaner registry fixer, Advanced System CARE 4, tried "sfc/scannow, but still get the same problem, but strangely i can open discs in Safe Mode!!!! I am running on Vista Basic 32-bit, Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. I can play music and films and burn stuff to disc with the DVD/CD drive so that seems OK, tried to update any drivers, etc, but can't seem to be able to fix the problem, any help would be greatly appreciated...
PS, everything else on the PC is working fine...:confused::confused:

It's most likely an issue with a 3rd party shell extension.
Be sure to set a system restore point before messing with this, as you can easily hose your system.

Use this free tool: ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows
Selectively disable 4 or 5 non-Microsoft shell extensions at a time and then test to see if that fixes it.
If it doesn't then re-enable those 4 or 5 and select another group of 4 or 5 (DON'T disable any Microsoft shell extensions!!!)

Please let us know the results of your testing.
Good luck!

Hey there, thanks for the post, unfortunately it is still the same after i tried your suggestion with the shell view, it is very frustrating.....

My Computer

All working fine now but on a different login :confused: someone suggested i try to open a disc in safe mode, which i did and it worked fine, so i tried it on my daughters login and it was fine there too, so all i did was created a new login and everything works fine, i am still very confused with it all but i can now at least open discs to view.... ps, discs still won't open in my old login
