BSOD 8 times in 3 days!!!! Plz help..

Windows Vista 32bit sp2(Main OS)
Windows 7 SP1 32bit(secondary OS)
Intel C2D E8400
Transcend 4GB Ram DDR2
Sapphire ATI 4770 HD
Seagate 250GB
WD 160GB

System is 3 years old.I had installed Vista sp2 on 1.1.2011 and win 7 SP1 may be a day after.

I had installed Bitdefender Total Security 2012 Beta after removing Norton 360 v5 and Kaspersky PURE 2011.After this, not even one day had past and I got 4 BSOD errors in the morning when I was surfing the net.

The error on the blue screen was "BSOD irql not less or equal".

Forgot to say this
When I sent the error report to Microsoft. It sent a solution like this.

Microsoft is unable to determine the exact cause of this error. However, this problem was most likely caused by an error in your computer’s random access memory (RAM). RAM is the main internal storage area the computer uses to run programs and store data.

During the crash analysis, we noticed the basic input/output system (BIOS) version on this computer does not match the specifications for the central processing unit (CPU), also known as a processor, that is installed on your computer. This can occur when a newer processor is installed on an older system board or older BIOS. Using a BIOS that does not support the installed processor can result in Windows system crashes. Contact your computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer for an updated version of BIOS for your computer's processor.

I had 2 more BSOD errors this morning.I got this after I changed Bitdefender to Avast.

I had both the files of 3 day's errors generated by your suggested software. Please help me...

This is happening when I am downloading at night from 2 am to 8am.I switch on the modem, start the torrents in the Torrent clients and have a software which autoconnects to the net at 2am.Then I lock the computer and go to sleep.
When I wake up I see that BSOD error has prevented any downloading..

I also have this problem of clock changing in BIOS multiple times.

Please help me asap...I dont want to format again...

The systeminfo report only shows 172 updates on the system. On most Vista SP2 systems the number is between 210 and 250. Please visit the Windows Update site and get all available updates.

Please do not use CCleaner on the system until we're finished troubleshooting.

Have you changed the CPU? If so, what exact model number did you install?

Does the system crash when you use Win7?

Have you changed the CMOS battery recently? This is usually the cause of clock changes in the BIOS. If this doesn't fix it, please let us know. Also, please do this BEFORE attempting any work on the BIOS (such as updating it) as this may cause critical errors that may break the BIOS chip on the motherboard.

The MSINFO32 report shows Norton installed. Please ensure that you only have 1 antivirus and 1 firewall running on the system. Multiple antivirus and firewall programs will cause poor performance and errors on the system.

The memory dumps point to networking errors. Most common are errors with your Avast program - but also some memory dumps imply that there may be a problem with a K9 parental web filter program.

Since you've already replaced the antivirus, please remove the K9 web filter program and reboot the system to see if that helps. Feel free to install the latest version once we're finished troubleshooting.

Please update your Marvell Yukon network card drivers (yours date from 2007): Marvell - Support The OS and part number selection are in the right hand sidebar.

Please remember the CMOS battery replacement - as these errors point at CPU errors, which is likely to be the root cause of these problems.

Have you scanned for malware? Please use the free, bootable disks below to double check the system (I'm concerned about the possibility of the TDSS rootkit):
I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)

My Computer

I have not changed my CPU at all.

The system does not crash when using windows 7.But since the day I start getting BSOD errors...windows 7 got the black screen with mouse pointer.I plan to re-install win 7.

I have not changed the CMOS battery. Is this because of this?I had this CMOS problem for about 1 month when I had trend and malware and k9.But then no BSOD happened.

I am getting these errors when I using the internet esp when for a long time like when I am downloading at night..

I have avast Internet security and malwarebytes installed.

I have used bitdefender removal tools to remove bitdender traces completely.

You say that the networking errors are due to Avast.Plz tell me how it is affecting?

Are the BSOD errors happening due to avast.

I will come back to you with the results.

If you're having problems with both Win7 and with Vista, then we have to wonder if this is a hardware/BIOS issue.

Changing the BIOS battery will probably fix the time changing issue - but I don't know if it'll fix anything else. The battery is relatively cheap (about $3 (US)), so it's worth doing just to see if it helps.

We don't know exactly what is happening, although the memory dumps point to Avast . BUT, the memory dumps also cite the INTEL_CPU_MICROCODE_ZERO error when doing so. So we have to figure out which is the actual problem (or, is it both?). And what about the K9 webfilter program - we have to figure out if that's causing the problem.

Are you using a program to clean your system? If so, please stop using it while we're troubleshooting. It is likely that it's deleting important info that we could use to help us figure out what's going on. I noted that the uploaded files only contain memory dumps from the 23rd - and that the previous memory dumps are missing.

Norton still is in your Start Menu. Have you run the Norton Removal Tool?

The K9 Web program (bckd.sys) driver is still on your system. Have you uninstalled the program? Here's a link to the procedure: Uninstall Instructions (Windows) | K9 Web Protection - Free Internet Filter and Parental Control Software

These are the instructions for removal before contacting BLueCoat support: K9 Web Protection Not Responding (Windows) | K9 Web Protection - Free Internet Filter and Parental Control Software

Please give us the exact make and model of your motherboard. If you don't know that, then we'll need the exact make and model of your computer system. This is necessary to do the research about the BIOS.

I believe that there may be several issues here, so it will require several different approaches. The BIOS issue is the most likely, so we'll need to figure out 2 or 3 things:
1) if replacing the CMOS battery fixes things (to include the
"DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: INTEL_CPU_MICROCODE_ZERO" line in the memory dumps)
2) if there is an update available for the BIOS that specifically addresses this particular issue
3) if a BIOS flash is done, does it fix the issue?

The next most likely thing (IMO) is the remnants of the K9 Web Protection. You must remove this according to the instructions above as this is a security program that is designed to resist this sort of tampering.

Beyond that, these are the likely causes:
- BIOS issue - either the battery, or the code in the BIOS (MOST LIKELY)
- K9 Web Protection not fully removed (it interferes with the networking also)
- outdated network drivers (not as likely as the K9 Web Protection, but still a possibility) Update this immediately.
- Avast issue (not likely as you have reinstalled it)
- other network components (not as likely as the other things)
- malware (a possibility that can be ruled out with an independent scan)

Please update the following older drivers. I am particularly concerned about those highlighted in RED:
OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers:

My Computer

I have updated both the drivers of marvell and realtek audio driver.

Today I had a BSOD which showed tcpip.sys on the blue screen.

I will install the CMOS battery today...

Plz check the error of 26.8.11 which is the tcpip.sys one.

Did you follow the procedure to remove the remnants of the K9 Web protection program? The bckd.sys driver is still loading in the latest memory dump.

Did run the Norton Removal Tool to remove Norton remnants from your system?

If the CMOS battery doesn't fix things, it's time to consider a BIOS flash - BUT - you MUST remove the remnants of the K9 Web protection first.

The cause of the tcpip.sys and tdx.sys errors are most likely due to the K9 Web Protection prrogram - and that's why it must be removed. If you don't want to mess with it, then it's time to consider backing your stuff up, wiping the hard drive, and installing Windows "clean". If problems still occur then, then we'll revisit the BIOS flash.
