hi all new to this so be easy on me , i got a dell laptop that stopped starting up got microsoft banner then blue page tried to start in safe mode etc ,changed battery inside got screen back but still wouldn't start stupidly put in reinstallation dvd and now got nothing only recycle bin it also says low on memory c drive has old windows on how do i get it back please

Sounds like you may have memory problems. You may need a memory test, which would be difficult since you cant boot.

When you say only recycle bin, does that mean you actualy get into windows?
From your description, I think you reinstalled windows, which would habve wiped out most of your files, BUT you can go into c:\windows.old\ and you can find your old My documents etc.
This ids not a RAM Memoy issue, its you now have 2 windows installed, sdo you have no more spavce on your harddrive issue.

You can't, you wiped out the old one when you used the dvd.
So all your programs are gone... any files not in the My documents stuff is gone too.

On boot, try to push f11 quickly and repeately
if does not work try cntrl f11.
If memory is low it may not work, but give it a try. You WILL lose all your stuff.

You have no memory/Hard drive space because of the windows.old If you cleanup that, you'll get your space back.

LOL looks like everyone forgot about you. You have a Dell, try to format. Then you can install the OS with the DVD

He just reinstalled. His problem is windows.old is eating his hard drive, but he can't get rid of it.
