So ive been through about a dozen of the old threads with the same title, I tried what brink has suggested (short of deleting my profile) but it hasnt worked because im not having a problem with a domain. This is my home *only* computer, all my personal files are on it. I can just up and delete everything and start again.

It all happened when I came home to find my computer off (weird) and then once I try to log on, boom. Its all f-ed. I tried one system restore, which took about an hour and a half to go through al lthe motions, and NADA.

Someone please help? If this gets fixed, I will literally send you money.

Welcome
I have found this solution on line. Have not tried it myself and I do not like tampering with the registry. If you decide to try it make sure you make both a system restore point and back up the registry in case of problems. I do wish you luck

To resolve the problem :

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/135858-user-profile-error-logged-temporary-profile.html

Ì
Login as Administrator or any user with Administrator privileges.

Ì
Using Windows Explorer, look inside C:\Users and backup any user folder
that you do not want to lose (remember, the Documents, Music, Pictures
folders for each user all reside under that user’s folder in C:\Users so the best
strategy might be to backup the entire user’s folder).

Ì
Start the Registry Editor (“Start \ Run \ Type Regedit”).

Ì
Locate the following registry key :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

Ì
Next, highlight each of the subkeys below ProfileList, one by one till you find
the profile belonging to the user who was experiencing the problem, as shown
below :

Ì
Once you have found the relevant subkey for the user in question, delete that
subkey (the one starting with S-1-5-......).

Ì
Close the Windows Registry Editor.
