active window blinking every 2 seconds

Hello,

I have windows Vista Business edition 32 bit w sp2.

Last week we ( I think ) picked up a bug. When we click on Citrix to go into a company AS400 program, the open window starts blinking on and off. The blue bar on top of the window that is. Also when you click and hold to drag a window, when the window blinks, it is like you let up on the mouse button and the window pops back to where it was. It is like the blinking interrupts whatever you are doing.

I have run our virus scan and removed 4 quarantined trojan problems. I used system restore and it fixed it on Friday last week. When we start the computer this morning, it is back.

I can't figure out what to do. Any help would sure be appreciated.

Thanks,

Welcome
Its not good that it was gone and came back. Lets start from the beginning
Update your anti virus and run a full scan
Download, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes.
Report back either way.

I have to use a couple of citrix sites at work and I really hate it because it does some strange stuff to your system especially if your browser is in full screen mode. Try it without opening up the browser in full screen. Scanning for malware is also a good idea but I bet that it has to do with that site.

I ran the malware program that was suggested and it did find 3 issues. All three of the issues were adware.mywebsearch. two were found in registry key locations and one was in a folder in program files.

I am going to remove them and see if issue resolves.

I had another thought though. The issue always presents itself after we start citrix. I am thinking of removing and reinstalling the citrix program to see if that will help.

Any thoughts?

I uninstalled the citrix program and rebooted and then reinstalled citrix.

Same problem. Strange thing about the problem is that it only affects the citrix client application and when that program is open, it affects other programs.

The computer is working fine if citrix is not opened.

Like I said, I've found Citrix to do some strange things especially when you are running it full screen. If this is a work computer I recommend that you take it to the technician responsible for maintaining the computers. Also I suggest that you contact whomever is responsible for the site you are using and tell them what it is going on. You can also try another browser. Now, what we can help you with is to make sure that your computer is clean. What did you use to scan it?

Richc46. Thank you for your help thus far. I did a clean boot and still exhibits the blinking issue within the Citrix environment.

I noticed that the Bing bar is on this computer (it is a workstation for one of my staff). I have tried to remove that and in add remove programs, it fails everytime I try. I am wondering if that program may be playing a roll. I have disabled it in manage add ons.

For programs that can't be removed, force a removal with either perfect uninstaller or revo-uninstaller.
