BSOD on normal boot and hangs before SafeMode

After removing a fake AV last week (Vista Home Security 2012), a few days later I started getting a BSOD after logon. I got to safe mode a couple of times and ran SAS and MBAM, which found other malware. After that I could no longer get to safe mode, hanging after crcdisk.sys loaded.

My BSOD message is IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the info: STOP: 0X0000000A (0X00000000,0X00000002,0X00000001,0X84042D03).

I have made sure of PSU (OCZ 600w), memory (1x2gb stick of OCZ PC2 6400 for now), GPU, and am running default BIOS. I used the Vista DVD to run Startup Repair (multiple times), try System Restore (none found!) and run Chkdsk/r from command line. I ran Avira Rescue from boot cd and removed 17 detections. I know that my Vista install has had service packs added, so I could not do an"Upgrade Repair Install" (files necessary for uninstalling SPs are not present)
So, I am unable to make use of the registry cleaning and BSOD Dump app you recommend. I'm wondering about Registry corruption. I now have a bootable Ubuntu disc so I can work on and recover files from my C drive. Recommendations?
