Solved Acronis Loader Fatal Error Question

Acronis Loader fatal Error: Logical disk for boot drive not found. Press <enter> to try to boot your OS...

Just this week I am getting this message when I reboot my laptop. When I press the enter key, it loads fine. I think this happen after installing the latest windows update. I don't see that I have Acronis, nor have I ever installed it.

Any suggestions on how should I handle this? Anyone else have this problem?

Not sure if this post should be in this forum or software forum so my apologies if this is not the correct place to post this question.

Hello MrsDowFire and welcome to the forums

Have you got a Vista installation DVD? I don't think a system restore will fix this, but we can repair it with the Vista DVD :)

I took my pc to the local guy near my house for him to see what the error was and he ejected the dvd that was in the pc. I didn't even know there was a dvd in it. Maybe one of my kids put it there and i didn't realize. once the dvd was out of the laptop, there was no more boot error. After Christmas I'm going to have him do some maintenance on the pc and check the fan that seems to continuously run and is really annoying. Thank you for your reply.

Speaking of installation disks; my laptop did not come with installation disks but instructed me to make them which I did but I have never (knock on wood) had to use them. How do I know that they are good in the event I may need them? The computer made 5 disks and I just put them away after making. Can they be tested or looked at to verify they are good?

That's great news! :D I'd never have thought of that.

I wouldn't worry about the integrity of the discs, as long as they're in cases or some other protective sleeve, they should be fine. The only way you can really check them is to reinstall Windows and see if it works - but I doubt you'd want to do that! If you ever need them and they aren't working, just pop back here and make a new thread and someone will do their best to help you. It is possible to order new disks from the manufacturer in the event that they no longer work :)
