How to find my bit?

Hi, a few days ago, my computer got a black screen after an update. Says: the windows boot configuration is missing required information

I've been looking for a fix and I need either the installation disc (dont have) or a recovery disc that I need to buy, but I first need to find my computer bit, which I cant do since I cant get on my computer.Help?

If you are having a problem with a different comptuer, try to go in with safe mode.Once in with safe mode, go to my computer, right click and then properties.

I see, okay, does the computer you are on now have capability to burn or copy disk's , There are some things to do with a bootable disk ?

Well, i cant really do anything with it. f8 doesnt work, nothing really does so I'm using my mom's computer. should i buy the recovery disc or get an installation cd? I dont wanna lose my information.
