Where did you get the discs, someplace like Ebay?
If the discs are good, I think all the reg cleaners and defraggers did you OS in.
When you are up and running again, follow my maintenance and make an image of your hard drive every few weeks with Macrium Reflex. Follow those instructions you will never have this problem again.

I think that the best you could do is, follow my maintenance suggestions, a few posts up. Make an image of you OS every few weeks and then no matter what happens you will not have this problem again. I think that you have registry problems, most likely from the reg cleaners and defraggers.

omfg I'm getting frustrated. it won't let me import the tasks, says they already exist when I know they don't I got rid of them.
still won't let me create a system restore point. says one already exists.

I just did that. but I'll do it again. I'm really starting to feel like I should have just ignored this. if i had the money I'd buy a 2nd hard drive and windows 7 and just install it over there and transfer my stuff. Originally Posted by richc46
