    laptop crashes when trying to use antivirus

    Hi,I've tried to run a scan with malwarebytes ,Avast and eset online scan and they all freeze and crash the laptop when they get to this file c:\boot\bcd.log1
    I then have to hold down the power button to shutdown,the same thing also happens in safemode.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Start with these free, bootable diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics.
    There are bootable antivirus CD's listed at the bottom of the antimalware page ( Free Online AntiMalware Resources ).

    When yopu say crash, what happens?

    How big is the log?
    Have you tried setting it to not scanning that file?
