Vista - random BSODs after booting up

Greetings,

A few months back I had these blue screens but I was able to do some hard drive cleaning up (uninstalled unused programs, cleaned registry with CCleaner, cleared up some space) and the problem stopped. Over the last week it's returned but not as often. When it started happening again it would happen shortly after Windows had fully loaded, and this would happen several times until I could successfully use my comp without a problem. Since then I've had it happen a few times but only once each before returning to "normal".

I have:
- Vista Home Basic 32 bit
- original OEM (is an Acer Aspire refurb), haven't reinstalled since buying
- comp is about 5 years old from purchase

I've run Malwarebytes quick scan without anything detected. My antivirus/firewall is VIPRE Internet Security 2012. I also recently defragged.

As can be seen in the performance report, Windows is not recognizing VIPRE for anti-malware or virus protection and I suspect this may be the problem, but at the same time doubtful of this because I'm not getting any system tray icons indicating lack of protection.

If any other info is required please let me know. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Hey...

I'm not sure exactly why my case isn't getting any attention so I decided to bump it up as the problem's still occuring on and off. The problem I wrote about originally was a "STOP: 0x00000024" but the most recent (today) had the "BCCode: a", and occured without actually displaying a blue screen, just freezing requiring a manual reboot.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Brendan

Brendan,
Sorry about the major delay, but sometimes with all the BSOD work, some threads are overlooked. Lets start fresh and see if we can help.
You have given us a number of BSODs, many give different causes. This can be a hardware problem, memory the most common
Run mem test for 8 passes and then take one stick at a time and test for 6 passes.

If you pass, take a general hardware test for other hardware.
