Solved BSODs when using dailymotion, youtube etc

Hello

My computer keeps freezing when using anything with video such as dailymotion, skype, youtube etc and then I need to force close the computer by holding on power button. Sometimes the BSOD also comes.

I have recently procured a new router due to changing Broadband providers and the problems have started since then.

I would be grateful for any help.

Many thanks

Welcome
Although the circumstances that you describe do not point to a hardware problem, 2 of the 3 reports point to memory. Take a memory test and then report back
The last 2 reports, all indicate memory. Take a memory test.
Run for 8 passes.
Run memtest for 8 passes
Then test each individual stick in a good slot for 6 passes.
If you have dual channel, the results may be incorrect, if shows pass.

The test takes about 8 hours. You did it in less than two. Try it again. Do it for 8 passes.

I don't mess about:p

I'm absolutely positive I did it for 8 passes, firstly with all 3 sticks (each 1GB) in and then with each stick in on its own.

I don't think anything would be achieved by doing it again.

Okay, I'm going to leave it on all night with all 3 sticks in. Am I correct in thinking that if there is an error with just one of the sticks then it will show up as an error despite all sticks being in place?

Last night I ran Memtest all night with all 3 sticks of Ram in their slots and there were no errors.

The missus used the computer quite a lot today without any problems until, while watching Dailymotion, the screen froze and then shortly after the BSOD appeared. I took a dump :sarc: and attached it here.

It keeps coming up memory, but lets go by what you were doing when the problem happened
Go to search
type device manager
update your:
network driver
graphics driver

I've just updated my Belkin Wireless G USB network adaptor and tried to update the drivers for my Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family (listed under "display adaptors") but found its drivers were already up to date. Is there anything else I should try to update?

To get the most current go to the manufactuers website
Do it for network and
Graphics.
Windows update is rarely current with drivers.
intel will even check your drivers

I ran the intel driver update tool and found the graphics drivers were current. I went to Belkin's site and updated my driver for my network adaptor. Should I have my missus bug test again until the next the BSOD or update in a week if there are no issues?

Thats all we can do. Use the computer as normal, if you get a BSOD, give us the dump.
I dont like they keep coming up Memory and you say that you tested. Do you have dual channel memory?

I wouldn't know. I do know I have a dual core processor. Is there any way I can check whether I have dual channel memory?

3.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)

Is there any way of making it single channel without compromising too much on speed?

OK you tested each stick alone that should compensate for dual channel.
I dont know of a way not to compromise speed if you go to single channel.

Just use the computer and report back.
