PC goes into sleep mode while typing

Dear Forum-members,

I'm struck with an impossible task of writing this post.

Fact is, my PC locks up itself when I type. Every other minute it might be a different key. I have run AVG, Spybot, Malwarebytes and none of them came up with anything specific that may have caused the problem. I'm starting to think it's more a glitch or a programming default (since recently, because I've had this laptop for three years).

So when I press a key on my keyboard it falls asleep. Nothing more specific than that. Except for that it doesn't seem to happen on the lock screen itself.

Is anybody here familiar with this problem? Can I fix it?
If not, what can I do? (maybe fix Vista's basic command programs?)

Yours sincerely,
Joram

Hi Joram,

I researched about this issue and found the following link which might help in fixing the issue: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...p-mode-while/72872372-3252-425a-bcc6-de55ee89

If the issue persists, boot the computer in Safe mode and check if the system behaves the same way. Please use the following link for detailed instructions to boot the computer
to safe mode: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/123496-safe-mode.html
If issue does not occur in safe mode try a clean boot to isolate the root cause. Please use the following link for detailed instructions to perform clean boot: How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista or Windows 7

Please post the results

Honestly, Magnets are not my problem.

I took my battery out, phone, Ipad, whatever was near. (in the mode without network it got rid of the problem though). But recently it started getting worse. In fact, now, in the lock screen, when I press a certain button. It just shuts down. Then when I try to reboot it and press F10 for the safe mode or any other button for that matter. It shuts down again. The only way it doesn't do so is if I just let it rest till startup. Then enter my password if able. And then never use the keyboard again for about 30 minutes. roughly.

So when I have the problem it goes like this. Basically it's type 3 letters or press enter, backspace any other key, goes to *lock screen*, enter password, type another 3, lock screen, password, type 3 more, lockscreen, *poof*, computer shuts down.

Hope you can help.
