Hi,

I have a sony vaio laptop running vista home premium .
The problem is that is loads up slowly and when the desktop loads it is unresponsive , i.e the mouse moves but i can't click on anything . I have tried the vista recovery dvd , this did not solve the problem, i have no back up or recovery points. I also do not have the vista installation dvd , but have the product code. The only working computers i have are apple macs . Can i somehow download vista installation discs from my mac and burn them onto a cd to start a clean install of vista ?

Thanks

Hi utdalp,

We can perform few troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue:

1. Try to restart your computer then go to Safe mode and check if the problem persists. Please use the following link for detailed instructions to go safe mode: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/123496-safe-mode.html
2. If it works fine in safe mode try performing a clean boot to find the root cause. Please use the following link for detailed instructions to perform clean boot: How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
3. If issue persists, run the built-in diagnostics provided by the manufacturer on the computer to check if the hardware is working fine.
