Troubleshooting System Freezes

I'm new to posting in this forum so please forgive me if I do it incorrectly.

I've been troubleshooting System Freezes on my Vista PC for a few months now. I've done a lot and now I'm seeking outside expertise.

My System:
Vista Home Premium 64 bit
Gateway LX 6810-01 8GB Ram
Nvidia Grahics GT120
All Windows Updates are done, all drivers are updated, antivirus and malware all active and up to date.

Symptom: You are working in a browser or application (it doesn't matter) and the PC just stops responding. The screen is still visible, the mouse won't move, no response to keyboard. You have to hold the power button down for 7 seconds to reboot. Sometimes on reboot you are asked if you want to start in safe mode and sometimes it just starts right up.

I've done the following:
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
-- there were two Yellow markers both for infra red remotes that I don't use; I disabled them and the Yellow markers are gone.
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
--I did and it ran clean; nothing wrong.
Run antivirus scan
--Ran scan using ESET Antivirus and it is clean.
Check memory with memtest86
--no problems found.
Make sure that you are not over heating.
--HOW DO I CHECK THIS ONE?
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
--Runs fine in safe mode, but generally runs fine in normal mode - the problem is very, very intermittent.
Make sure PSU is working properly
--I don't know how to test this.
Test hard drive at company website.
--Did a defrag, ran scannow /sfc, chkdsk - clean

A while back I thought it was a corrupted Picasa 3 database and I completely uninstalled/reinstalled Picasa.
In desperation I reinstalled the OS from the Partiion on the Drive.

I've seen postings that it could be a bad power supply. Could a bad (or beginning to fail power supply) cause total freezes?
What else can I look for? I ran Hijack This and I pasted the results below. I don't know how to read it, really.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
