Video problems, Drivers?

Hi all, my HP dv2419us notebook freezes completely when i watch any type of video with any type of player. My driver for the Nvidia Geforce go 6150 isn't the most recent one and I want to know how to update it. I already downloaded the newest version but whenever I try to install it and restart my computer, the driver didn't install. So I want to uninstall my current driver first and then install the new one, problem is, I don't know how to do that. Can someone tell me how to do this?

Hi Brian8921,

The link below takes you to the lastest video driver provided by HP. Dated 05/07.

Software & Driver downloads*HP Pavilion dv2419us Notebook PC

When you click on NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics Driver scroll down a little bit and it has instructions on how to install.

Yes but I've tried that about 5 times already, whenever I do it, it seems like it works because I have to restart but after the installation wizard closes I get the error that the program may have not installed correctly and windows gives me the option to reinstall it with correct settings or to just say it installed correctly. Well I tried it with the settings vista gave and it still doesn't work. So how do you uninstall all video drivers so I can just install this one, not overwrite the old one?

Brian,

Click on the start button > right click on my computer > choose Manage. Then go to device Manager. Find Display Adapters and right click on the Nvidia card and go to Properties. Go to the details tab and see if the date matches the date on the driver. Date on the driver was 05/07. If you wish to uninstall the video driver right click on the Nvidia and click on uninstall/remove. Then reboot and re run the HP install.

On my device manager under the driver tab it says 2/27/2007. The driver assembly date under the details tabs says 2/27/2007. For some reason the driver isn't installing. Question about uninstalling the video driver, when I uninstall it, will i be able to see the screen?

Yes you will be able to see the screen but the colors and resolution will be funky. After you uninstall/reboot either Windows will reinstall the driver automatically or prompt you for the driver.

I just decided to run this install from HP on my pc. The install says it's a 64 bit driver. Hmmm. I would call HP about this and get them to help ya. Should not take too long to fix with them on the phone. I'm kinda out of ideas. :(
