System = Vista Home Preium 32bit

Ive just brought a new computer :D and it arrived today. I got it from overclockers in the UK and it was their top spec so I was expecting very little compatibility issues. However (!), the computer does not recognize any USB ports at all (there are two front and 4 on the back). I have a wireless broadband setup with a USB flash drive. When I run the disk that came with my wireless setup it tells me that I have no network and i must set one up. Fine, no problem. So in the "connect to a network" section I click "connect to wireless network or access point" I click through to "creat wireless network settings bla bla bla" I enter the system name and receive a "passphrase". THEN, it tells me to plug in the flash drive and select it in the drop down box. Here the fun begins. It doesnt show anything in the drop down menu and having searched all over the PC (like through the Device Manager) I find no reference to USBs. I have checked that they are conected internally and see no reason for the problem. I also tried to install a printer and wirless keyboard with mouse but they remain lifeless. I guess it can only be the USB ports arent recognised.

Please can you tell me how I get the PC to know that it actually has 6 USB ports. And Im sure I dont need to download drivers because I have them on disk but as I said at the begining I cant run them as I dont have a network (well with regards to the internet part issue anyway).... And the problem goes on and on and on.

ps. Im know my way round the basics but not a wizz kid on these things so please be specific in any response.:o

THANK YOU
Sean

Check in the BIOS to ensure that USB is enabled. Other than that either the usb controller is bad or some other problem exists. Id check the bios first.

Send it back. I have had dealings with overclockers.co.uk and they were not good.
If the computer does not do what it was sold for they HAVE to give you your money back under law.

Thanks, I found it hidden in the BIOS and managed to fix the problem. :D:D:D

As for Overclockers I'll heed your advice but the rest of it seems to be working well.

Appreciate the help.
