| Newbie | Hard Drive not recognised when trying to install linux from CD Hai All, I have a new Toshiba A-205 loaded with Vista (32-bit OS). I am trying to dual boot this system with an older version of linux that does not recognize the hard drive due to SATA drive that my new system has. I have Intel(R) ICH8M SATA AHCI controller -2829 for the hard drive and Intel(R) ICH8M Ultra ATA storage controller -2850 (I am not sure if this information is neeeded) In referring to linux forms, it is understood that I will need the drivers for this which can be installed when booting OR change the BIOS setting under SATA to "legacy mode". I had no luck in having any of these done successfully. Does any one have any experiences in working around with the problem of VISTA + SATA drive. Please let me know of any possible solutions. Thank you all for the help. |
