Hi,
So I've been having MAJOR problems. My laptop is giving me trouble with installing the driver to my kodak easyshare c340 digital camera. It's not installing the driver properly and we have no idea what the problem is. We've tried searching all the drivers that are on the computer, re-installing the kodak software..everything and nothing is working. I even called kodak and they said to look into my security settings or call Microsoft. When looking into my system information, it's giving me a error saying that "cannot access windows management instrumentation software. Windows management files may be moved or missing" We have no idea why that is happening and we think it might also be related to the driver not installing properly. Can anyone seriously give me advice as to what to do???? I don't want to end up sending my laptop back because of all these problems

Well I just did a google and there seems to ample suggestions on how to fix this situation. I will assume you couldn;t bother doing a quick google::sarc:

Anyway here is a cut and paste of one solution:

To resolve this behavior, delete and then recreate the files in the
%SystemRoot%System32WbemRepository folder:

1. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Under “Services and Applications”, click Services, and then stop the Windows
Management Instrumentation service.
3. Delete all of the files that are in the %SystemRoot%System32WbemRepository
folder.
4. Restart the computer. The files are recreated when the computer restarts.

Thanks. No I definitely Googled and saw that option but with some of the responses I saw from people doing that was not good, so I was a little nervous about doing it and just was wondering if there was anything else to possibly solve this problem other than doing this. I will try it. Thanks for the response, it's really much appreciated it!

fair enough

If you don;t feel safe doing it then perhaps you know someone who feels a little more confident?

I know when I first got Vista I was advised not to install drivers without first seeing what happens when you plug XXXX in.

In my case bith my Panasonic Video Camera and my Nikon Digital Camera worked properly with the drivers Vista installed automatically.

my dad and I tried what you had suggested and it did recreate the folder but did not fix the problem with the windows management software. It's still giving me that error message and the computer is still not recognizing my camera to install the driver properly. We're not sure what else to do so I am probably going to call Microsoft. If you find anything else of course send it my way. Thanks again!

According to Kodak website here:

KODAK EASYSHARE C340 Zoom Digital Camera Downloads and Upgrades

It seems there are no Drivers for Vista and I suspect the drivers you are trying to install can't be installed.

You will need to let vista install a driver for it or upgrade your Digital Camera or hassle Kodak to release something mroe "modern"

But if it's just stills then you just connect via USB, Vista should install generic USB Mass Storage Driver and you can download/upload your pictures.

What happens when you plug the camera to Vista via USB cable? (without drivers)
