Location: Netherlands | S.M.A.R.T. info under Vista x64 for nVidia chipsets Vista uses storage-drivers following the SCSI-api. And that means it's not possible to query S.M.A.R.T.-info of your HDD's with tools like Everest under Vista. With a tip from the Lavalys Everest forum I managed to make this info available on my rig running under Vista Ultimate x64: I downloaded the latest 9.64 windows xp x64 drivers, unpacked them en pointed the windows vista x64 devicemanager to the directory with the sata-ide drivers and updated them. Now my system (a nforce 6150/430 chipset) is running with nvgts64.sys drivers instead of nvstor64.sys drivers. For 3 weeks now and sofar so good. Low level operations like defragmenting, imaging and disk partitioning also perform fine. And Everest sees S.M.A.R.T. info again. Have a look at: Workaround for missing SMART info for nVIDIA chipsets under Vista - Lavalys Discussion Forum Last edited by sanse; 04-18-2008 at 03:15 PM. Reason: typos |
