| Vista Ultimate x64 | vista ult x64 and usb drivers It seems as if loads of folk have vista usb problems - I have searched many sites and forums without luck to solve mine Finished my new build with Gigabyte p35-ds3p and core 2 duo. 8 USB ports Copied chipset files from Gigabyte CD and put on usb stick. Booted new PC from Vista Disc - it saw and I could use the usb (to load drivers) Installed Vista, rebooted and installed several applications Installed Creative USB WebCam - and had it operating Tried to install External Hard Drive - problem that driver wasn't signed - didn't install Webcam not working Plugged in USB stick - nothing happened Device Manager sees the USB controller usbstor.inf exists (have copied back from both repository areas) have tried placing it in new folder have disabled / enabled and reapplied drivers - no success In device manager - against each usb get message Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39) Any ideas would be appreciated Last edited by waterstar; 05-19-2008 at 08:57 AM.. Reason: duplicate line |

| Windows Vista™ Ultimate | Re: vista ult x64 and usb drivers Hi WaterStar, Have you just tried using the default Vista drivers? Some of the chipset driver installers don't work very well with Vista... Steven |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: vista ult x64 and usb drivers Hi Steven I found (late last night) that the culprit appeared to be an unsigned driver. AFter wasting most of the day trying to solve it, I reinstalled Vista which did the trick (I hope). Now have usb availability but given the research into solving the problem I've seen reports of vista loosing usb support after a sleep.... However for now I'm optimistic - nice fast machine with usb Thanks for suggestion |
