"... has stopped working" repeatedly.

Just this morning, I've been getting the error message "so-and-so program has stopped working." At first, it only happend with Winamp. It happened several times before I uninstalled Winamp and re-installed it several times, with no help. I even tried older versions of Winamp; Winamp will now open and stay open, but it won't play any files and will not give me any error messages.

After I pretty much gave up on Winamp, the error message appeared for Firefox. After FireFox, the HP Digital Monitor also "stopped working."

I'm not sure as to why this is happening and I'm afraid to change any settings for fear of making it worse.

EDIT: Songs won't play anywhere on any program on my computer anymore.

Re: "... has stopped working" repeatedly.

I feel your pain...

long ago i was a victim of the dreaded TDR (stop 0x116) errors on vista regarding my video card & nVidia's less-than-stable drivers.

The awesome (and i do mean awesome) guys at BFG Tech traded me out of my 8800GTX and into a GTX 280...

the TDR errors are nowhere to be found (yay!) but just this past week ANY game i play randomly crashes with the "_____ has stopped working" error...

SFC is of no help, been there, done that. killing background processes (at-the-moment un-needed system services & other apps that run at startup) hasn't helped either. installing the latest DirectX runtimes from microsoft doesn't solve it... I've even updated the video driver to the latest beta release from nvidia and the error messages still occur at random...

Re: "... has stopped working" repeatedly.

Oh wow, I'm so sorry, I forgot about this thread. ._.

Well. I don't know what I did (I think I did nothing, really, or something...), but it's stopped now. And my computer's fine and dandy now. xD

I have no idea what fixed it, that I can remember.

Re: "... has stopped working" repeatedly.

I had the same problem on both a new Acer Notebook and Desktop Quad Core, stopping both Office Word 2007 and AVG free,I found the problem to be Acers edata security Manager, removed on both and all run fine.
