Anybody else crashing with 175.16 install?

I am running Vistax64 and as soon as I install the latest driver for my 8800GTS 512MB KO from EVGA, it crashes. I've spoken to EVGA and they were really surprised. I am currently using 169.xx (from Dec. '07) and haven't had any problems.

I'm just wondering if there are other people out there with a similar problem or solution to this problem?

My main rig runs Vista Ultimate or Server 2008. Depending on which Acronis image I decide to load.
Actually, Frustrated Man, I had almost the opposite- game performance was slightly choppy with the 169 drivers but it rock solid with the 175 drivers for my eVGA 8800 GTS 512MB KO edition GA in Vista Ultimate x64 w/ SP1.

I wonder what's causing such a polarization in results...

I submitted a bug report or tech support claim to EVGA so they are aware there are problems, but they probably already know. I've never had any problems with EVGA stuff in the past. They are a good company.

Hi John and others following this thread,

I am currently using the 175.16 driver without any problems whatsoever. I upgraded to this driver from the previous 169.25 when I upgraded my graphics card from a 7600GT to an 8800GT. However, unlike previous graphics driver updates where I merely installed a fresh driver, I had to uninstall the previous version and revert back to the driver as supplied on the Vista installation disk before I could get it to install.

There could be a driver conflict. Try to uninstall all + Driver Cleaner Pro and do a fresh install of the latest WHQL drivers.

My Crystal Mark Scores improved with 175. They installed fast. I did uninstall 169 before and restarted. I would investigate a motherboard chipset conflict with Vista.

I had problems with hellgate london prior to 175.16, after installing the new drivers the game worked better. It may depend on which card manafacturer made the cards. Not all gfx cards are equal.

Could be the same thing I had... From my experience since last summer, the only nVidia product that ever gave me BSODs was their utility nTune... and it started with the 17X.XX series of Driver... since I've uninstalled nTune, no more problemo.

Just installed 175.16, after uninstalling the Windows Update version 163.xx, and have had no issues so far. I did notice slight hesitation when first loading the Nvidia control panel and its components, but that seemed to go away by the next time I accessed it.

Its the same build you buy from the shop, it still needs to be updated like all other editions :sarc:

But it wasn't. It couldn't update properly. Virtually nothing worked properly, including some of the Windows diagnostic tools that came with it. As soon as I installed using my friends copy, the problems all disappeared.
