| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Conexant HD audio problems Hello, Ever since I tried to install Service Pack 1 (which seemed to require driver updates before it could be installed), the sound on my laptop has refused to work. The volume control doesn't work and insists that there is no audio output device, whereas the Device Manager says that the Conexant HD Audio device is there, but that the drivers are not installed... but when I try to reinstall the drivers, it tells me that the installation has 'failed', but doesn't tell me why. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Thanks! |

| Mojave Ultimate x64 | Re: Conexant HD audio problems According to this article Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates there are issues with SP1 with Conexant HD Audio "version 4.32.0.0 or earlier". Have you downloaded the latest drivers? |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Conexant HD audio problems Well, according to Device Manager, the driver that's installed is version 4.40.0.50 (15 February 2008), so I'm guessing that'll be the latest one. I reverted the installation of SP1 earlier, by the way, so that's not installed now (I thought it might be causing the problem). |

| Mojave Ultimate x64 | Re: Conexant HD audio problems Well if you decide to try again, I would visit the your motherboard manufacturers site and ensure you have the latest drivers from them and not just generic drivers. I'm not sure if you've already done that, but its worth a shot. |

BTW, if anyone else is wondering if they have the same problem, the URL for the drivers which worked was Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver*HP G7025EG Notebook PCIt's such a relief that that's fixed now =D |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: Conexant HD audio problems A lot of people seem to miss the idea that, when installing SP1, if any of your devices break, the first thing to do is to re-install the latest drivers for that device - SP1 doesn't' play nicely with all devices and their drivers, and a simple reinstall will usually (but not always) fix it. Glad you got it fixed, and thanks for the patience in trying something that did not seem to make a difference before *again* - perseverance was the key to your success, and I hope others will read this thread and try the latest drivers before starting to pull their hair out. |
