Vista Tutorial - looking for nvidia driver for vista on toshiba a200 laptop

well, the subject says it all..

but i had problems with programs and games i was running.. they were always crashing. so i looked up new nvidia drivers and found something that said.. uninstall drivers and intall this one.
i uninstall the driver, reboot my machine... click on setup.exe for the new drivers and it said compatible hardware not found.

not i have ****ty resolution and no video memory and i can't find the proper driver.
can anyone please help me?

Did you go to nvidias website to get the drivers? You should also be able to get the drivers from Windows Update.

tried windows update.. it says that the best driver is already installed.. which is just a standard vga driver.. therefore not true..

i even installed service pack 1 and it didn't help at all.

and on the nvidia website.. i downloaded the geforce series 7 drivers and again.. when i install.. same message.. "not compatible with installed software.."

arg.. i don't know what else to try.

I just looked up your laptop here: Toshiba Satellite A200 Laptop Computers and well, uhm, are you sure you've got an nvidia graphic card? The a200 series is listed as either an ATI or Intel video card.

that's my laptop.
i bought it in the uk if that makes any difference..
but it's definetly a nvidia card.. it even has the sticker down on the left hand side..
plus i uninstalled the driver myself.. now i just can't get it back

This has really got me scratching my head. Your model is A205-S5831, correct? If I go to Toshiba here: Toshiba Support - Content List it lists the driver as ATI. If I google A205-S5831 video I get a lot of references to Intel. Wow Toshiba is confusing! Officially for the Go 7300 series, drivers are supplied by the OEM and not nvidia.

i mean at least i was able to install it and fix the resolution a bit.

to be more specific.. my laptop model is satellite a200-1al

but these drivers seems to have worked.
it's the first one i tried since my error .. that actually worked.
