Shutdown problem with Nvidia 175.19

Hi There!

Since installing the latest Nvidia Graphics Driver 175.19, I've had a bit of an issue when I go to Restart or Shutdown my PC.

After I click-on Restart or Shutdown, the Logon screen appears, then it goes back to the Desktop Screen, then back to the Login screen and Restarts or Shuts Down correctly.

I'm not sure whether it may have something to do with the Task Scheduler (and Windows Sounds possibly), but any help from anyone would be very much appreciated.

Warmest Regards

Neil

When it goes back to the logon screen the second time is it for a brief moment? Because in my system I hit reboot and is starts to clear apps away, and then goes to the Logon screen, and then flashes back to my desktop with just ht wallpaper showing for approximately .5 t o1 second and then does the power cycle and starts rebooting....

v175.16 seems very stable on my 9800GX2. In fact I read they pulled the 175.19 soon after posting it, due some widespread problems? Try downloading the 175.16

Are the GT200 drivers available for any of the Nvidia cards, like my 9800GX2? Like I saw them on the Nvidia drivers site, but assumed they were for some other new card?

my computer does that, but btw only with service pack 1, before without service pack, it didnt do that, and btw its the best have always updated the drivers, and i am guessing its that microsoft tried to make the shutdown faster, and it created this tiny bug, it doesnt make any harm, i believe, it just takes a few more seconds to reboot, but anyways it goes more faster than without service pack 1.

Hi

You read incorrect, those 175.19 drivers were never pulled and have been on Nvidia site since release. I have zero issues with 175.19, and I get the same thing as John describes, it goes to the logoff/shutdown screen and then flashes the desktop wallpaper for just a second and then shuts off properly.
Sometimes it doesn't do that tho so I think it's probably just a slow reacting program or driver sometimes that might cause that behavior.
