| Newbie | USB device malfunction & Unknown device re-install itself Hi, I got a Toshiba satellite: A135-S2386 and I have a usb port problem. I got 4 usb ports on this laptop and all four are non-responsive. I tried restoring the laptop to its factory setting and updated the BIOS. I also tried to go into device manager and uninstalling all the usb drivers, restart, and plug in the usb device again. Its weird because when I plug my usb devices in, it still show that the device is connected because the device is charging. The unknown device that I uninstall will reinstall itself automatically and I already run 3 different virus scans from 3 different virus scanners. I used the Toshiba hardware scan and it came back normal. Everything seem to be ok except that the port does not detect my devices and I have google this problem for over a week now. So HELP PLS |

| IT Consultant | Re: USB device malfunction & Unknown device re-install itself Do you have the service pack 1 release installed. I had a similar issue with my gaming desktop that whenever i plugged in a flash drive it was unable to read it. After installing the service pack i was able to it working again. What is the device that you are using that is charging but showing as unknown? |

| IT Consultant | Re: USB device malfunction & Unknown device re-install itself Do you have any other devices such as a USB thumb drive or external hard drive that you could try to see that would work. I know with cell phones you need to find the correct drivers for them which sometimes can be hard to find depending on the phone. As far as the Ipod goes, same thing make sure you have the proper software. It will charge it due to USB 2.0 being a powered port but might not read how to read it properly. Also, do you have SP1 installed? |
