Help Please. Startup Issues?

Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 running Windows Vista Home Premium. For some reason, when ever i power on the computer, it boots up normally however when it gets to the point where the log in screen is suposed to show, the computer displays a blank black screen with a movable cursor. The same thing happens when i attempt to boot in safe mode. If anyone could shed some light on this problem that would be great!

Maher

Re: Help Please. Startup Issues?

It could be any of a number of things, such as a failing video card, corrupted system files, HD crash, failing memory, overheating....

Your best bet is to get Dell on the line as it is unable to boot in either normal or Safe Mode....

Re: Help Please. Startup Issues?

hi, it may possible your video card is corrupted. If your video card is fine then you can install vista again after taking backup. This will resolve the problem

Re: Help Please. Startup Issues?

1) this is the Dell Inspiron 1505: Dell Inspiron e1505 Review (pics, specs)

2) If he cannot boot, it is probably doubtful that he can make a backup so as to reinstall Vista....and since it is a laptop it is probably going to be pretty hard to replace the video card....

Have you contacted Dell about this?
