CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter with Cat 8.7/8.8

Whenever i open WMP i get a lot of errors in my event viewer, they seem to pop up every 2 second when WMP is open.

The error in the event viewer says:
"CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter"
Event ID: 52236 - Source: atikmdag

This is happening with Cat 8.7, did not happen with Cat 8.6. There seems to be no problem with my system though, the only thing is that the error is showing in the event viewer, it doesn't seem to make any sort of trouble beside that.

Got (ATI)Sapphire HD 4870.

Anyone know what this may be?

Anyone?

It seems to be related to the avivo feature/codec, but am not 100% sure on this.

Re: CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter with Cat 8.7

Not really - I know of a few here who have bought this card, but I don't have it personally, and have sworn off ATI for now, so I cannot help.

unless you are using Avivo, uninstall it.

And if you installed the CCC uninstall that - you only need the *driver* itself for functionality of the card - I used nothing but the driver file and Avivo with my x1650 Pro AGP 8x card back in the day....I hated (and still do) CCC.

Re: CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter with Cat 8.7

Still the same problem with Cat 8.8, Cat 8.6 ofc does not give me this error.
Also the error seems to pop up if i go to "Avivo Video" in the CCC panel.

Edit: Only installing the driver and nothing else, still gives me the error. So there has clearly been some changes since 8.6 that my event viewer don't like.

Re: CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter with Cat 8.7

Have you tried cleaning your system of ATI drivers and then installing the 8.8 alone? Perhaps it is just having an issue with a file it does not update if it finds present, but which in fact has been changed a bit....

Re: CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter with Cat 8.7

Of course, for every driver install i do, uninstall the driver, reboot into safe mode, clean with driver sweeper, reboot, install driver. Or maybe you are thinking of another cleaning method?

Edit: I've also reported this to ati driver team both with 8.7 and 8.8, also made a ticket in the knowledge base, but there was no help to get there either, because they couldn't reproduce the error.

Re: CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter with Cat 8.7

Tried with a clean install of vista x64, and the error is still here, so it must be some kind of fault with the driver, could be my hardware setup, but i doubt it, since 8.6 doesn't give the error.
