| vista 64 | Tempermental DVD RW - need some help pse Hi I have a Samsung DVD/CD drive which is tempermental and I do not think it is the DVDRW but Vista. This is because it was working fine when I did a Vista clean install (yesterday) and Vista has behaved strangely by creating a Floppy Disk Drive a: when I last logged in and I do not have one fitted? When I load a CD/DVD into the drive the 'normal' wurrring noise and light flash but then they time out. If I try and access it through explorer it says load a disk? | Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Tempermental DVD RW - need some help pse Vista gets hardware information about DVD, floppy, hard drives from the BIOS. It sounds like you BIOS is reproting an A drive (which on my mobo is a setting) and not reporting the DVD (that port maybe disabled). |

| vista 64 | Re: Tempermental DVD RW - need some help pse Solved it by using an IDE drive. I replaced the SATA one - and did a fresh install. All seems to be working fine now. |
