I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

Ok I have a desktop computer that is hooked up to an hp printer. I want to be able to use the printer through my wireless network on my laptop which has Vista Home Premium 32bit. I have researched the problem on the internet and have done a bunch of things that people in other forums have suggested. I have uninstalled adobe acrobat, I have have checked the dependencies and the spooler depends on the LexBce Server. I have the spooler set to automatic, I have all the failure taps set to the "Restart the Service" selection and the next two spaces set to 1. If I try to start the spooler I get error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. Since the LexBce Server is not running, when I try to start it, I get Error 2: The System cannot find the file specified. I think it can't find it because I think I did something in Command Prompt that somebody suggested. I think I deleted it or something. Is there ANY way I can completely wipe out the LexBce server and take it off the Spooler's dependencies list? Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Hi, SlickNick, and welcome to the forums.

It sounds like the machine used to have a LexMark printer attached to it at one time or another (Some Dell printers are made by LexMark as well).

Over at Bleeping Computer I found this little gem that should help you out: LexBce Server

I've already used the command prompt sc config spooler depend= RPCSS. I forgot to mention it in the original post. It tells me access denied. Know how to gain access?

Re: I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

you need to run CMD with administrative privileges first.

Start --> type CMD in Search box --> Right click the CMD 'shortcut' that appears at the top and select Run as Administrator.

THANKS A LOT!!! Is there any way to completely delete the lexbsc service from the services list and from the computer so that it will never happen again? Thanks for all your help I thought I'd NEVER get it fixed

Re: I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

Also, I'm trying to uninstall lexmark from my desktop computer but it says that I can't because I have to wait for the printer to stop printing...that printer hasn't been connected in MONTHS. AND, I have a new printer installed and connected to it but it doesn't have any pending print jobs. ???

Re: I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

The *new* printer has no pending jobs, or the old printer has no pending jobs?

And uninstalling the Lexmark drivers should uninstall the service as well.

Re: I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

I don't think either has a pending print job. If the new hp printer did, it would be printing. The other one's not hooked up. I can't un install it. I also got a message once I got the spooler working that said something like the subspooler app has stopped working but windows will tell you when it's running again or something like that. What is this about?

Re: I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

Hmmm - If you have access to the old printer hook it up so you can uninstall the software. If not, go to Drivers and Downloads - Lexmark and find your printer model and search for a driver cleaner utility to remove the driver.

As for the last error about the print spoiler closing down on you, well, that could be part of the reason why the Lexmark drivers are not uninstalling. It could also be a malware infection.

First things first - have you tried uninstalling the Lexmark software as administrator?

Re: I NEED help with Printer Spooler Error

I'm not sure if I've tried uninstalling as an administrator? How would you do that? I just tried uninstalling it by going to control panel and then add/remove programs.
