Brother MFC-6800 connected to XP PC

I have a MFC6800 connected to a Win XP home machine (not 64 bit).
I am trying to access the printer with a Win Vista 64 bit machine via a network.

I've tried suggestions found in other posts:

Installed the Brother to the Vista machine, then moved it to the networked XP PC and tried to point the Vista dialog to installed Brother drivers on the Vista box. But the Vista machine cant find the .INF file (I tried C:\Windows\, C:\Windows\System32, C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and a few others & where the other brother drivers are. No luck. What .INF file does it want?

I also tried to add a port to the XP installed printer (in my case \\OFFICE\BrotherM), but Vista won't let me add the backslash.

Any ideas?

all the drivers mentioned on the mfc6800 FAQ for win vista 64 (e.g., brold-Vista-0100 files); also the drivers in YL4FBxp.exe. Tried to install on either / both machines.
