Hi, Currently I use Windows XP Pro (32 bit) and I just received Vista Home Basic, 64 Bit edition and I try to run it on boot..
When I run the DVD on boot I get "Windows is loading files" and as soon as the progress bar is finished I get the following page:

Windows Boot Manager:
Windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. choose your language settings and then click "Next".
3. Click "Repair your computer"
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer
file: \windows\system32\drivers\iastorv.sys
Status: 0xc0000098
info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt

Why?

Thanks :)

Did you load the driver? You can download the floppy install driver for the Intel Matrix Manager software, has to be loaded at beginning of setup under Advanced, I beleive. Same area you partitioned and formated drive. Its under here Intel® Matrix Storage Manager - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager support
Under software drivers on that page for the Get F6 floppy installation.
On Vista it's not F6 anymore, that's XP. You load the driver on page you format and partition drive when running setup for Vista. Make sure you know which you need x86 or x64.

Ok, this is the first time I try to install an OS actually
I want to format my C:\ drive and install Vista Home Basic 64 Bit..
As far as I understood I just need to run the DVD on boot and format any drive from there and then install the OS..
I didn't quite understand what's the software you suggested, could you explain to me how should I go about formatting the C:\ Drive and installing vista..?
I tried downloading that thing and installing it but it said my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements.

Thanks a lot !

the key to your problem is in the blue screen error "iastorv.sys". That file is in the download I mentioned previously. When you download that file and expand/extract it there will be 5 or 6 files in it that provide the driver you need. You can copy those files to a floppy disk, if you have a floppy drive or possibly to a USB thumb drive. When you install the Vista 64 and get to the area where you format, partition the drive there is a custom, advanced or load driver link you click and it will search the floppy or thumb drive for the driver to the disk drive controller (iastorv.sys).

You did OK, but Vista does not boot correctly without loading that driver. By clicking the blue writing in the previous post will guide you to the driver you need.

I just tried the link a minute ago and it seems to be down right now. The download is from Intel's matrix manager software page and the file you will eventually get to is "f6flpy64_85.zip". Here is another link to it.
Intel® Matrix Storage Manager 64-bit Floppy Configuration Utility

That should take you right to it provided Intel corrects the problem they seem to be having right now.

The driver has to be loaded at setup where I told you above not from within windows itself.
