Re: frustated with raid

You need to create the RAID disk beforehand and install the files on to a USB disk. You do this by loading the motherboard disk and go to D Drive or whatever your optical drive is, and there should be a file called "make disk" around somewhere. You click this and you choose where to load the files, and just choose the usb disk.

Once this is done, just follow the steps you were doing to install Vista with the USB disk in, then when it asks you to load the driver, choose all the files on the USB disk and it should work.

Edit: Though it's best to check the ASUS website for the latest drivers for it. The ones on your disk will most likely be for Windows 2k and XP.

Re: frustated with raid

I've been on a online chat, with ASUS about this issue of installing vista on a raid0 array. I was walked thru step by step. here's the process start pc, hit delete until bios screen, advanced menu onboard device configuration, choose serial ata configuration, enable it. next setting is raid enable it,then enable all sata ports that are in your raid array that have drives plugged in. Hit F10 to exit and save, when reboot hit delete and set boot sequence to enable cd dvd first, hard drive second etc! F10 to save and exit upon reboot hit F10 to Nvraid utility set-up hard drives included in array, stripe or mirror ect, F7 delete data, hit B to make the array bootable, Ctrl+X upon reboot install installation dvd and hit any Key to continue, should install, when it get's to where you want to install it should show you array, formatt and install no need for sata drivers. I'll try this and repost my results!

Re: frustated with raid

Finally got it! ASUS was right, you don't need to install drivers for raid with Vista! Follow the guide for raid slowly, if it doesn't install or shows two arrays, go back and delete the arrays and start over. In a raid0 array there should only be 1 unallocated drive, and Vista will detect it. Per my delima, I read a post about installing with 4GB of ram, and Vista not installing, so I took out 2GB's and rebooted my PC, Vista installed without a hitch. Seek and you shall find! Many Thanks to Forums like these!
