| Vista x64 Home Premium | Holy cow please help me. PC Specs Intel Extreme DX48BT2 motherboard Intel Core 2 Extreme Quadcore desktop processor 2 Pioneer DVR-1910 Internal DVD CD Writer 6 Hitachi Deskstar 1 tb hardrives Models: HDS721010KLA330 I'm attempting to install Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. The Pioneer DVD drives come with a cd with drivers on them This is a brand new build everything brand new, and my first install for the Operating System Attempting to set up RAID Ok so heres the problem, I try to boot off of the Vista CD. For some reason before it can install, it stops and says that I need to select a driver for the CD Roms, but nothing is there to select. It says that it can't find any, and that if needed, to put in a cd to install the drivers. I do so, it says it still can't find any. I can't move on, and I have tried EVERYTHING. I'm hoping that someone else has had this problem and has solved it. I've tried a different CD rom that does not require loadable drivers to work, and the same problem exists. Why does Windows Vista need drivers for the CD Rom if it is able to get that far without the 'needed' drivers?! I am so confused and I don't know where to turn. Please, someone help out. |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit | re: Holy cow please help me. Hi. Just did the same thing with no probs. My system Intel Q9450 RAID 0 on Seagate 7200N + 3rd HDD as ghost backup. 790i Ultra Vista 64 Bit Home premium 9800GTX I guess you have checked your BIOS/CMOS boot sequence as this is where the DVD drive gets it's marching orders until the OS is installed and another driver is activated. Also make sure you have your RAID selection chosen in the BIOS/CMOS settings. Really, the drive should not pose any problems this early in the setup, providing it's not faulty. I have not had one problem installing the OS or FSX. Getting 56fps at the moment, locked to 35, 23fps steady on 747 short finals at YBBN. All drivers updated and Alacrity PC installed. | Vista x64 Home Premium | Re: Holy cow please help me. Well I'm just starting to think getting a new computer was a bad idea... But I finally found drivers for Marvell, and I was somehow able to use those drivers for it to continue on to loading Vista...Took forever to find but I got it all up. After that, Vista did great for me, but the computer itself didn't. My motherboard has faulty wiring or loose connections because it died on me and every once in a while turns back on... I need a new motherboard. But that's not Vista's problem lol. |

| Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Vista went bye-bye on this rig) | Re: Holy cow please help me. is your dvd drive a sata drive? i had the same problem setting up raid on my system with a sata dvd drive. luckily, i had another computer with an ide dvd drive. i removed the sata drive and installed the ide drive only to set up the raid and install vista. after everything installed and i was able to boot into windows verifying that everything was working, i took the ide drive out and installed the sata drive. i rebooted and windows had to detect the drive and install software, then all was well. the other way you could probably do the raid set up and os install without swapping drives is to use another computer and copy the cd rom to a flash drive. when you get to the point in the os install that asks you for the dvd drivers, point the pop up window to the flash drive and see if you can install the dvd drivers that way. |
