| Vista Home Premium | Playing CD's on Windows Vista Hi I'm a complete novice to computers. I've recently bought a new computer but can't seem to play CD's on it. The computer doesn't seem to be reading the drive. I've even tried playing the software and documentation disc that came with the printer and its not recognising that either. Please help. I'm useless with these things. Cheers |

| VISTA HOME PREMIUM X64/ 7 x64 / 7x86 | Re: Playing CD's on Windows Vista Hi Blazer, Sounds like a hardware and/or connection fault - I would take it back to the shop and insist on a new pc. Don't let them fob you off by saying they'll repair it - get a new one ( under UK law , at any rate ). If you are curious, you could see whether the cd/dvd drive is recognised. Click the Start Orb, click computer, right click the cd/dvd drve, click Properties. Then click the Hardware tab - you should see your hard disk listed at the top , and your cd/dvd drive underneath - click on it to highlight it and see if it says "this device is working properly ". Have fun when you get your replacement pc SIW2 |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: Playing CD's on Windows Vista Hey, thanks for that. I got it sorted. I took the side off and removed the power & data cables and re-connected them, that seemed to work but now i have another problem. The CD tray wont open. It was opening before and after i got the CD drive working it worked for a while but now won't open. There is a CD still in the tray. Any suggestions?? |

| VISTA HOME PREMIUM X64/ 7 x64 / 7x86 | Re: Playing CD's on Windows Vista Yes I suspected it simply wasn't connected properly - trouble is, if you end up taking it back to the shop, they won't be happy you opened it. SIW2 |

| vista ultamate 64bit | Re: Playing CD's on Windows Vista to get your cd out 1st turn off the power there will be a small pin hole in the front below the tray Insert a small pin inside and push firmly and you will see the drive open slightly now pull the draw open and remove your cd.... now back to the shop and lie threw your teeth don't tell them you been inside just tell them it never opened from day 1 |
