| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Vista 64bit SLI issues I am Running Vista 64bit Ultimate and running the latest 177.83, but I have to disable SLI for Sins of a solar empire ver 1.05 and WMP to work. I use Vista Codec Package and anything I run in wmp with sli turned on it locks up the comp and goes to a black screen, this also happens with SINS. Strange thing is that sometimes the screen is locked with the last thing I was watching in wmp or SINS, and windows says sometimes like the video driver has stopped working. I could be getting a bsod but you can't run multi mon when sli is turned on and I don't have a second screen. I was running dual boot a while back and xp always ran with no problems, I did have this issue with the dual boot in vista 64 but thought it would be fixed with the next driver update. Another thing that is odd is I can play other games just fine like Crysis, Lego Indiana Jones, Hellgate London, STALKER, UT3 and this list can keep going on but I have never had an issue with any other game or app. To get them to work correctly I have to switch off SLI. There is a SLI profile in there for sins, I tried turning off the SLI to run on a single gpu bit still crashes. Here are my sys specs: AMD 4x4 FX74, NForce 680a SLI Chipset, 4GB Mushkin, 2x 8800GTX BFG OC WC Edition SLI, on board sound, Win Vista 64bit SP1 Here is the Error from windows problem reports and solution, and go fig nothing for the issues I am having Problem: Video Hardware Error Description A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly. I have tried a new sli link cable, drivers, swapping the cards around, I have the latest bios, everything is up to date on my drivers, I don't have a virus verified with avg pro and housecall.trendmicro.com and I am all out of ideas. If any one here can give me help I would greatly appreciate it. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Vista 64bit SLI issues [quote=aconstable;835044] Well it did fix my video play back issue but it did not fix my sins but I FINALLY got a bsod with the new nforce drivers that let me to the issue I was having with that. I got nvlddmkm.sys and if you google it is pretty straight forward on what the problem is, in short in vista 64 with an nforce board the ram is running to slow at 800mhz so you have to under clock to 667 or there abouts to resolve the issue. I also found out it isn't sli specific, it just occurs more often when sli is enabled. I can only guess as to what is happening but none the less the media playback was fixed with latest nforce drivers released yesterday and underclocking my ram I am no longer having issues with SoaSE with sli enabled. |
