Vista - BD Driver

I have a Blue Ray DVD installed - which is plug and play (SATA) and was working fine.
after many other horrid problems experienced with vista 64 - i thought i finally had most of it resoved. So i went to install a piece of software for my daughter.

put in the disk (power fine) nothing happened ? went to computer, the drive is not displayed ??? went to devices - under DVD etc its has the drive - a LITE-ON 401s with a yellow triange! when i click it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

i click "check for solutions" and it sends something to MS but that is it. I got to driver and update - but it says i have the latest driver. I unistall - and next time it automatically re-installs but still with the same problem..... hmmm what do i do ???
