multiple bluetooth devices in device manager, but only one device installed?????

i have installed the correct driver for this belkin bluetooth usb dongle model: F8T012XX1

but in device manager, it has the belkin device and microsoft bluetooth enumerator, which is great. but when u get further down the list. it has a tab named "other devices" and then a subtab with "bluetooth peripheral device" which has an exclemation mark on it.

i have searched for driver software using the update service but it cant find no update.

i have looked for the name of the manufacturer but found nothing.

i then disabled the unknown device, and sent a picture to my mobile phone. which confirmed that it was not the belkin bluetooth device. so i uninstalled the unknown device, restarted the computer. then when i logged in, it said that it had found a new device and wanted me to find the CD that came with it..

i would be greatful if any1 could help me on this..

thanks in advance

Re: multiple bluetooth devices in device manager, but only one device installed?????

What type of keyboard have you got?
Have you got any remote control devices around.
Have you got a headset for your phone.
Have you got anything that may be bluetooth that you dont know about (headphones etc).
Have you had a look at ghost devices on the tutorials;

Re: multiple bluetooth devices in device manager, but only one device installed?????

It sounds more like your software is not x64 compatible or you didn't installed it as an administrator... Vista is funny that way.

I am a Vista Newbie myself and I spent last weekend battleing with my bluetooth dongle until I was able to find the x64 software.

Re: multiple bluetooth devices in device manager, but only one device installed?????

hi roy, i have a wireless keyboard and mouse, which came as standard with my desktop straight from the manufacturer Acer. although, there is a compatability problem with the wireless PS2 mouse, but i have checked with acer and they say it is the right driver....

i have a bluetooth headset for my phone, but it is paired with PS3 console for online gaming at the minute, this was turned off before PC was turned on. the play station 3 was also turned off...

i have 2 other devices with bluetooth but both are turned off.

i will jus have a look at ghost devices now!!!

ASTALAVISTA--- hi ASTA, i have a 32 bit Operating system, X86 build.. and i have verified that the drivers i have got are vista compatable

i must have installed on an administrator account as this is the only account on the PC

thanks for your help guys, woud be greatful if you could get it resolved for me

Re: multiple bluetooth devices in device manager, but only one device installed?????

i have just checked "bluetooth radio's" colum and there are 2 bluetooth logos in full colour,

but there is another list called "BLUETOOTH VIRTUAL DEVICES" which has 9 full colour logos, and 10 faded logos

out of all devices under VIRTUAL collum, there are 5 different names, some are repeated..

there is:
bluetooth AV source X2
bluetooth FTP X7
bluetooth headset AG X2
bluetooth OPP X7
bluetooth SYNC X1

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

See, that's just it, you would assume (just like I did) that you have admin rights because you installed the OS and you are the only login there, but you be wrong!

Vista's logic is apparently different from our logic or the XP logic we used to follow. By reading a few other forums and blogs, I was able to decipher why Vista does this and apparently they do so to be able to stop malaware and spyware from starting processes w/o your knowleage or permission. By making/Forcing you to Allow/Cancel and Confirming the installation manually, the security or intrusion on your system by malaware/spyware is better, this manual process, on the other hand, is very annoying to say the least.

If you right click on any icon/file, you'll see what I am talking about ("Run as an Administrator). I really don't know whether double clicking on an Icon/file or Right Clicking/Run as Administrator makes any difference when you want to install something.

Sorry if I am confusing you more than before, my English is not very good and my vocabulary and grammar are worse.

Re: multiple bluetooth devices in device manager, but only one device installed?????

i am very used to confusing problems, they seem to surround me....

i do know that for some applications, you do need administrator privilages before you can run certain task's, such as "quick clean" from mcafee, and to access certain game settings.. but i haven't ran in to problems with having to use administrator privilages to install software... not as yet that is!!!!!

also, while i was looking on ghost devices as directed by roy69. i also found 2 HID compliant mice. two of which are not connected to the system - so it says in the divice properties!!!!
