| Vista Ultimate x64 | Installed wrong drivers? I recently upgraded my PC to vista 64bit. I had problems with the system freezing up when I ran fullscreen games (and sometimes just on the desktop). I browsed around and updated my audio and video drivers to 64bit vista compatible, but I still get the same problems.. Either I downloaded the wrong things or it didn't help, maybe someone here can assist me? My pc can run a 64 bit enviroment (amd athlon 64 3800+) I have 4GB of RAM installed and my video/audio cards are the following: Ati Radeon x1650 Creative SB (Soundblaster) ZS 2 I went to each of these sites and got (what I thought) was the correct drivers, but it didn't fix anything...what can I do to fix these problems? (My pc is a Compaq Presario GX5050 Gaming PC) I also ran speedfan to see if it was an overheating issue, but the temps where fine when it froze. |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: Installed wrong drivers? I am also a Vista 64 newbie but one thing I have learn is that, with Vista, nothing seems to make sense or has a logic until you find their thought process behind it. For the most part, I install everything as an Administrator (right click, run as administrator) and go thru the process. My video driver had to be installed from the Device Manager telling it that I had a Disk for it (even though I had downloaded the file) and I was able to make it work. I know think this happened because I didn't run the download file as an admin. Some of the buttons of my G7 mouse did not function ingame and it was driving me crazy since I had set them up on setpoint, later I learn that I had to run the mouse as an admin... funny I thought I was the admin? ![]() Sorry, that's all I got, I can only assume and speculate that it has something to do with Video card strong enough or CPU but I really have no clue when it comes to ATI & AMD... Nvidia & Intel guy since as long as I can remember! |
