ATI Drivers causing "display driver stopped responding" errors

Hey guys, just built a new system with two HD4850 ATI cards and Vista 64. Every so often, my screen flickers and I get the now infamous "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error message. It is getting quite annoying. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Thank you!

Are you using the latest driver set from ATI? Version 8.9? If not I would suggest downloading it from their website and uninstalling your current ones and installing the more up-to-date version.

I have yes. If anything, the issue is worse. There is a registry fix for it that changes some Timeout detection and Recovery settings; but I'm not sure how reliable it is, and quite frankly, that's just putting a band-aid on the problem.
