Rundll32 Error on Startup

I have been using a Nvidia 8600GTS 256MB for 2 years now without problems.

I have just purchased and installed a ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB.

Before installing the new card, I removed the Nvidia display drivers for the old card. Shutdown, installed the new card and bootup.

Now everytime I boot my system, I keep getting a Rundll32 error relating the the Nvidia driver that used to be on my system.

I have installed the new Catalyst drivers for my new card, but still get the error everytime I start the computer.

It closes the program, and I can continue to use my system, but I would really like to fix the problem if someone knows how to.

Thanks.

Hi duckz,

This is probably due to data that is still present in the registry. To open the registry editor, click the start orb and type 'regedit' into the search box. Right click on the program and select 'Run as administrator'. After providing administrative credentials, the editor will open. Browse to the following location:
attachment.php

Unfortunately, you didn't specify the exact text of the error message that you are getting, but I assume that it was referring to 'NVCPLDaemon' (the error message will probably refer to the data field rather than the name). The solution is to right click on the name and select 'Delete'. Make doubly sure that you are selecting the correct name that is referenced to by the error message.

Close the registry editor and reboot.

Thanks very much to both of you for your help.

I ran the Startup Manager section of TuneUp Utilities 2008 and deleted the entries related to the Nvidia Graphics driver. So you were both on the money, as there were still things trying to start on system startup, and the entries in the Registry is what I deleted to fix them.

Thanks very much! :D
