Problems when installing ATI 4850 driver in a MotherBoard with NVIDIA Chipset!!!

Hi there guys, I need to konw the opinions of you.
I Have the ASUS M2N-E SLI Motherboard, wich has a NVIDIA chipset.
I just made a upgrade to a ATI Radeon 4850 and I noticed that every thing goes "well" until I install the ATI Driver!
After I install de driver the PC starts to crash, not a blue screen, just freezes after some minutes of use!
I am sure that is when I install the ATI driver because I just removed it, the driver only (catalyst still installed) and I am using the PC with "no problems".

I heard that was not possible to use the 4850 as principal grafic and de old Nvidia 8500GT for physx, but I did not know that a conflict would appear just because the onboard LAN is NVIDIA driver!

Please help me, I need opinions!!!

I thought about these 2 possible solutions:

1- Disable the onboard LAN and remove its driver, install ATI driver and see if the problem stops.
2- Install MS Windows XP and see if the problem stops, since I heard that the XP does not have problems with using nvidia and ati drivers at the same time.

What you guys think about it?

Thank you very much allready!!!

I would hope you uninstalled the driver the 8500GT before installing the 4850. I doubt that it is the LAN driver that is causing the problem. If it helps any I am using a Nvidia based motherboard (NF4) with an ATI x1950 Pro and have never had a problem like the one you are describing (that and my motherboard uses the same drivers yours does).

As far as using both, not going to happen in Vista. You want to use more than one card, they all have to use the same driver, no trying to mix and match ATI with Nvidia.

Thanks for the information!
The problem is that the problems is happening after formatin C:!
I installed office 07 and nero 7 with no problems (no driver) when i installed the driver....
about 5 minutes and the PC crashs.

I disabled the LAN onboard but did not solve the problem!
I will try using the Windows XP and see.

Thanks.

If anyone may help me, please!

Did you ever find a solution to this problem and if so can you please post up your findings. I am having a similar problem and would like to know how you overcome it.

Hi there!
I found out the a lot of 4850 have a cooling problem!
You must set the cooler at some thing near 65%.

In my case, it did not work and i allready send it to RMA.

Thanks!
